WHAT IS WOW FUSION MICROBOTOX?

The sterile, single-use WOW Fusion cartridge uses very fine needles to distribute small quantities of the formulation evenly across the treatment areas of concern.

Unlike conventional Botox treatment, where the medicine is injected into selected facial muscles, WOW Fusion delivers the formulation more superficially within the skin.

WHAT CAN THE TREATMENT HELP WITH?

For appropriately selected patients, WOW Fusion MicroBotox may help to:

HOW DOES BOTULINUM TOXIN WORK WITHIN THE SKIN?

Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces the release of certain chemical messengers from nerve endings. When placed in very small quantities superficially within the skin, it can influence processes involved in oil production, flushing and fine surface lines.

For oily skin, it is thought to reduce signalling associated with sebum production, which can help reduce shine and the prominence of enlarged pores.

For patients troubled by facial redness and flushing associated with rosacea, superficial botulinum toxin may offer a further treatment option following assessment. It is thought reduce nerve signals involved in the widening of small blood vessels and the release of inflammatory messengers, although the precise mechanisms are still being studied. In her own clinical practice, Dr Knight has seen encouraging reductions in rosacea associated facial redness in selected patients. She can discuss relevant case examples during your consultation, helping you understand the improvements that may be possible and whether this approach could suit your skin.

Superficial treatment may also soften fine lines through an effect on delicate muscle fibres close to the skin, contributing to a smoother, more refined texture. The intention differs from conventional anti-wrinkle injections, which target selected facial muscles more deeply, although nearby muscle weakness remains a possible risk.

Evidence for these skin-focused uses is still developing, and results vary. This is an off-label use of a prescription medicine.
