THE LEADING DOCTOR LED CRYOTHERAPY CLINIC FOR INTIMATE SKIN LESIONS

For many patients, skin lesions and conditions in an intimate area can cause anxiety, embarrassment and have a significant impact on body confidence. Our specialist service offers patients the option to remove intimate skin lesions, many of which cannot be treated under NHS care as they are deemed ‘cosmetic concerns’. We have helped many patients through our direct access Cryotherapy service providing a safe, affordable treatment option to remove irritating genital warts and skin tags without the frustration of NHS waiting lists.

Dr Ayanna Knight is a practicing NHS GP with a vast experience in assessing and diagnosing a range of skin conditions and lesions as presented in day to day General Practice. Our Doctor led clinic is fully insured to treat skin lesions in intimate areas including genital warts, vaginal skin tags and pearly penile papules.

Your cryotherapy treatment will be carried out with the CryoPen™. This innovative, cryosurgery device emits a super fine jet of nitrous oxide from its tip, making the treatment of sensitive areas incredibly accurate and safe. All treatments are carried out by our medical director, Dr Ayanna Knight.

WHAT IS CRYOTHERAPY?

Cryotherapy is the controlled destruction of unwanted tissue by the precise application of extreme cold. Cryotherapy treatment refers to the removal of skin lesions and warts by freezing them with liquid nitrogen. For most people this is the most effective and least invasive treatment available.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CRYOTHERAPY FOR INTIMATE AREAS?

Treatment with the CryoPen™ offers safe, quick & effective freezing treatment for the removal of a range of medical and cosmetic skin lesions with minimal discomfort. Due to the fine jet of nitrous oxide emitted from the CryoPen™ the process of Cryotherapy is incredibly safe and accurate.

HOW DOES CRYOTHERAPY WORK?

Cryotherapy is medical non-surgical treatment involving the removal of skin lesions by using liquid nitrogen to freeze the skin cells until they die. The freezing treatment normally involves 5-30 seconds of the liquid spray being applied with the CryoPen™; further freezing treatment can be applied after a short break dependent on the size of the skin lesion.

Healing time varies from patient to patient and is largely dependent on the size of the skin lesion that has been treated. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled for 4-6 weeks following your treatment to review the results of the Cryotherapy and assess whether a further treatment as required. Any treatments performed at review appointments are free of charge.

IS CRYOTHERAPY SUITABLE FOR ME?

Cryotherapy is safe for all adults of all skin types and ethnicities. Cryotherapy is not recommended in patients with some medical conditions, however, following full medical consultation and skin examination with Dr Ayanna Knight your suitability for treatment will be assessed.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

All Cryotherapy treatments at the clinic are carried out our medical director, Dr Ayanna Knight. Following consultation & examination of your concern, Dr Ayanna Knight will advise on the most effective treatment plan and the cost of the cryotherapy treatment.

The Cryotherapy procedure is relatively quick with most treatments being completed in under 5 minutes. Treatment with the CryoPen™X is safe and sterile; as there is no incision, there is no bleeding and no risk of infection as compared with other treatment options such as scalpel excision.

As the skin is more sensitive in the genital area, Cryotherapy treatment here can cause more discomfort than treated areas on other areas of the body. Breaks can be taken as required during the procedure.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE CRYOPEN™ TREATMENT?

Following Cryotherapy treatment, the area of skin will be slightly swollen, red and tender. In the hours that follow, swelling may increase a little which is part of the initial active process of skin cell death. This swelling will steadily subside over the next few days.

In the case of anal, vaginal or labial skin tags, the treated lesion may remain a little fuller compared to the original skin tag, this will steadily reduce with each treatment with the lesion reducing in size overall.

Healing time varies from patient to patient and is largely dependent on the size and nature of the skin lesion that has been treated.

HOW DO I CARE FOR THE AREA FOLLOWING TREATMENT?

To reduce the risk of infection it is important to keep the treated area as hygienically clean as possible; wet wipes can be used following treatment to reduce any discomfort on wiping the area after toileting. If you are prone to constipation, it is advisable to drink plenty of fluids and increase fruit, vegetables and fibre in your diet.

Mild pain or discomfort in the area treated is common in the first few days following treatment but this should not restrict returning to work or normal daily activities. Paracetamol is advised as an analgesic if required, 1g can be taken up to four times daily.

Our Doctor Led Clinic offers complete wrap-around patient care from consultation to aftercare; if you have any questions, concerns or queries following treatment, you can contact Dr Ayanna Knight directly for advice.

WILL I NEED MORE THAN ONE CRYOTHERAPY TREATMENT?

Most skin lesions in the genital area will require more than one Cryotherapy treatment, some large anal or vaginal skin tags may require 4 or more treatments. At your follow-up appointment with Dr Ayanna Knight, the results of the Cryotherapy treatment will be reviewed to assess your ongoing treatment plan. Any further treatments performed at review appointments are inclusive in the price you pay at your initial appointment so there are no additional fees to pay.

WHAT DEVICE DOES THE CLINIC USE FOR CRYOTHERAPY?

Dr Ayanna Knight performs the treatment with the innovative CryoPen™X which emits a pressurised, super fine jet of nitrous oxide from its tip, making the treatment incredibly accurate and safe. The CryoPen™X is the most advanced of the CryoPen™devices available and can treat larger skin imperfections as well as medical skin lesions such as seborrhoeic warts, keloid scars and precancerous skin changes.

The CryoPen™ is also CE and FDA registered, giving our patients the additional peace of mind that our Cryotherapy system complies with the strictness safety procedures.

The treatment is 100% sterile so there is no risk of cross-contamination. Following your treatment Dr Ayanna Knight will discuss comprehensive aftercare to minimise any possible side effects and ensure effective results.
